growing hub

Singapore continues to be a growing hub of diversity, with people coming in and out from all over the world. Singapore is home to about 1,386,000 foreign workers, relying on them to perform key roles in the maintenance and development of various sectors. These foreign workers find Singapore to be their preferred destination.

Close to 9 in 10 respondents to the survey found that they were satisfied with working in Singapore. There were many takeaways with the 2018 Foreign Worker Experience Survey from the Ministry of Manpower. The report also found that about 84% of work pass holders (WPHs) and 91% of S Pass holders would recommend their friends and families to work in Singapore. It was also revealed that the foreign workers were most satisfied with Singapore’s high levels of safety and security, living conditions, and salary. The survey took the responses of 2,500 WPHs and 500 S Pass holders. More than 80% of both groups felt that they had safe working conditions in their workplaces. Along with this, more than 95% of both groups said they were able to choose their own food arrangements.

The survey also showed many positives regarding the Ministry of Manpower. A majority of the surveyed got information on their employment rights from the MOM. Additionally, about 80% of both groups said they were able to easily approach the MOM regarding workplace issues.

This survey shows a lot of benefits to working in Singapore as a foreign worker. On top of Singapore being a constantly evolving country, testaments from current foreign workers should persuade others to follow suit.
